WHAT IS THE H100 PCIE

The H100 PCIe puts Hopper's Transformer Engine into standard servers at half the SXM power budget. Compute sits about 25% below the SXM part and HBM2e replaces HBM3, but FP8 support is intact. It is the pragmatic Hopper for inference fleets and fine-tuning rigs built on conventional PCIe servers.

WHAT IT IS GOOD AT

Inference
FP8 Transformer Engine at 350 W - strong serving economics in standard chassis.
Fine-tuning
80 GB fits 70B QLoRA on a card; bridge-linked pairs handle bigger jobs.

WHO SHOULD NOT RENT THE H100 PCIE

Multi-GPU training beyond bridge-linked pairs - the SXM part exists for that.
Single-GPU jobs that fit smaller, cheaper cards.

BUYING H100 PCIE: WHAT THE PANEL SAYS

At the current floor, one H100 PCIe running around the clock costs about $504 a month (730 hours of on-demand arithmetic). Per-GPU floors by config size: 1x $0.69 · 2x $2.18 · 4x $2.73. Compare the alternatives below before committing - the same budget often buys more than one chip class.

H100 PCIE VS THE ALTERNATIVES

H100 PCIe vs H100 SXM
SXM has ~30% more compute, 67% more memory bandwidth and real NVLink fabric - and usually a matching price premium. Single-card and inference work sees little of that gap.
H100 PCIe vs H100 NVL
NVL adds 14 GB of faster HBM3 per card and a factory NVLink bridge, aimed squarely at inference. For serving, NVL is the better PCIe-family pick.

H100 PCIE PRICING FAQ

What is the cheapest H100 PCIe cloud GPU right now?
The cheapest published H100 PCIe rate on the panel is $0.690 per GPU-hour at SpotGPUs (H100 PCIe x 1, Not published). Every price links to the provider's own published rate.
How much does a H100 PCIe cost per hour?
Across 13 providers tracked today, published per-GPU hourly rates for H100 PCIe run from $0.69 to $4.04, with a median of $2.73. Committed-use and reserved rates are excluded; everything shown is on-demand.
How many providers rent H100 PCIe GPUs?
13 providers publish 19 distinct H100 PCIe configurations on Compute Cafe. 14 of those rows were reported in stock by the provider's live endpoint at last observation.
Where is H100 PCIe cheapest?
By published per-GPU hourly rate, the cheapest geography for H100 PCIe today is canada at $2.18/hr (Hostnot GPU). The spread across 3 tracked geographies runs to $4.04/hr in singapore.
Are H100 PCIe prices going up or down?
Over the 11 days Compute Cafe has tracked the panel, the H100 PCIe floor is falling: $1.990 to $0.690/GPU/hr (-65.3%). The median continuously-tracked listing moved from $2.99 to $2.99 (+0.0%). Daily snapshots are public in the repo, so the trend is auditable.
What does a H100 PCIe cost per month?
At the current floor of $0.690/GPU/hr, a H100 PCIe running 24/7 costs about $504 per month (730 hours of on-demand arithmetic on the cheapest published rate). Committed-use contracts can price lower; the panel tracks on-demand rates only.
Why is PCIe H100 cheaper?
Lower clocks, HBM2e instead of HBM3, and no NVLink fabric - all deliberate. For single-GPU serving you lose little; for multi-GPU training you lose a lot.
